A month ago we, sans kids, ventured to the mountains of central Mexico for a wedding. Cabo, Puerto Vallarta, Punta Mita, San Miguel de Allende is NOT! In fact, it is quite the opposite from most Mexican vacation spots. It has more character, less bikini-clad tanning beauties. It has cobblestone streets, no beach. It has art and artists and buildings with serious Spanish influence. This town was the first Mexican city to declare its independence from Spain and as we walked through the streets we could just feel the history.
